I have had this information since 2017 and thought I might find something that would somehow link this with someone. It was sent to me by a fellow one-namer who’s uncle held shooting parties, There is a strong connection in the list to brewing (well it is near Burton on Trent) and particularly
Marstons (famous for ‘Pedigree’)
As uncle was definitely not the organiser, it might be better to let you
know all the ‘guns’ as it might be one of the others who invited the
Colonel. They were:
M F Hurdle
M F W Hurdle (son)
C Gothard
S Gothard (brother)
J Coleman
E Harrison
R Vickers
D Hall
Col. Featherstone
They shot 42 pheasants between them.
Mr.and Mrs.Blackshaw joined them for lunch. He had formerly been a regular
‘gun’.
From the sequence that they were written in, I would guess that your chap
was a friend of D Hall, but that is only a guess. I have not come across any
other military titles throughtout the years.
