He must have been just 21, because when I found them in a later census he said he was born in 1844. His marriage lasted only 23 years as he died in 1888 in Worcester. They registered their last child as Ernest Wolfendale Featherstone I don’t know why they gave him the name and I cannot find him after he was with his mother in the 1891 census in Charles Street in Worcester. I found another daughter Catherine Agnes baptised in Aug 1871 and not found on any records since.

George Williams’ father was according to his marriage details was also called George and he was a Waterman, I have been unable to find a record that shows them together. In 1861 George was lodging with a 27 year old Samuel Gittens a Cordwainer and his family, George following the same profession, all his life. I cannot find him at all in 1851 when he would have been only 7.

His eldest son also George William married in the same church as his father 30 years later. To Maggie Remington ( I have not found her with the same name in any census) Helen Mary Ann when married, Margaret in 1901, Ellen in 1911 (with Maggie crossed out). His Brother in law Albert J Alldis was a Certified School teacher, a profession follow by two of George’s sisters Mary Ann Alberts’ wife and Edith Georges’ youngest sister.

I found a George who could be George Williams’ father in both 1851 and 1841 but cannot prove it.

Details:

Copy of an Entry of Marriage in the Registration District of Worcester
From the registers of Worcester St Paul
1865 Marriage solemnized in the Parish Church in the Parish Of worcester St Paul In The County of Worcestershire
Entry No 289
When Married 17 Ap 1865
Groom George William Featherstone of full age a Bachelor, Shoe Maker of Charles Street, Father George Featherstone a Waterman
Bride Emma Farr of full age a Spinster of Charles Street, Father John Farr a Leather dresser
Married in the Parish Church according to the rites and Cermonies of the Established Church after Banns by me H A Baumgater
The Marriage was solemnizied between us, Both signed
In The Presence of H Pearson and Sarah Ann Hayman?

1871 Census
RG number: RG10 Piece: 3051 Folio: 31 Page: 12
Reg.
