I have been sent a birth certificate which reads:

\nFlorence a girl, Father Wilson Featherstone a joiner , mother Margaret Featherstone formerly Simpson. Informant M Feathertsone mother of 10 Churchill St, Openshaw, registered 16th January 1883.
\nHaving found the Registration in the March of the following year, I went searching for a marriage of her parents, Looking for a marriage of a Wilson to a Margaret Simpson within 10 years of the birth of Florence, sure enough there is only one:

\nThen I looked for a census entry in 1881 could not find one, but I think the Ardwick area of Manchester has problems with missing folio’s so I tried 1891 and found this,

Is this a miss transcription, it should be Margaret , not Mary, It is not it is written Mary A. but I cannot find either a death for Margaret or a Marriage to a Mary A.
\nGoing the other way I could not find a Wilson in 1871, but in 1861 I find a Jacob Wilson, born in the right place, Stanhope:

and knowing that he had another name came up with:<\/p>\n

So what happened to Jacob Wilson I cannot find him in any other census? Under Jacob or Wilson.<\/p>\n
